What Testors did was remove the word DullCote from the package. That threw me for a loop for a while too. But I saw that the words DullCote are used in tiny letters on a wee bit of paper label that keeps the lid on the can body.
- Testors Dullcote, on the other hand, I've never had a problem with--always a nice flat finish. I've kept very few of my old kits (long story), so I don't know about yellowing. Testors Clear Coat definitely yellows over time; that much I know from personal experience.
I used Micro-Sol/Set on them and Testors Dullcote over them. If you look at some of them, they have really gone on well -- no carrier, no silvering, conform very well to the aircraft curvature and to both raised and scribed detail of various sizes -- I was amazed given how thick they look and how strong they are.
Oct 28, 2013 · The wash shaded the figures and brought out the details, but that was secondary to darkening the grey base coat. The lenses were picked out with Reaper LED Blue (09288). The basing was my usual sand/paint/water mix drybrushed with a sandy color. The figures got a layer of Testors Dullcote after everything had a day to dry.
